Caroline was one of 10 craft makers and artists commissioned to participate in the #Untitled10 2019 residency at The Bowes Centre that explored concepts of craft, materials and making. Caroline researched the architecture and history of the Bowes Museum to craft paper scenes on a miniature scale. Original architectural drawings of the Bowes Museum were transformed into paper models which draw inspiration from visual storytelling techniques of paper toy theatres and pop-up books. The craft process of experimentation and prototyping of these paper objects incorporated traditional Japanese crafts of origami and katagami paper stencil patterns combined with contemporary fabrication techniques of laser cutting. The exhibition features a unique series of works in progress throughout the Museum that showcase the processes involved in interpreting the Bowes Mtuseum itself, its history and collection.
